PASADENA — October 26, 2026. Residents and commuters along Mentor Avenue between San Pasqual Street and Del Mar Boulevard should plan for the first phase of a city water-main replacement project beginning this week. Pasadena Water and Power says work is scheduled from October 26 into January 2027, with a break during the city’s year-end construction moratorium.
When crews will be in the street
The utility lists work Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Drivers can expect intermittent lane closures, although Pasadena says at least one lane should remain available and driveway access will be maintained. The notice does not describe a full permanent shutdown of Mentor Avenue.
Water-service interruptions
The project will replace aging underground infrastructure intended to support water-service reliability. Pasadena says customers will receive advance notice of any planned water-service interruption. A posted construction date is not proof that every property will lose water or that a boil-water notice is in effect.
More work coming in 2027
A separate city project begins on Villa Street between Hill and Palo Verde avenues in November and continues onto West Colorado Boulevard later. These are distinct work areas and schedules; drivers should not infer that the Mentor Avenue detour applies to Villa Street.
